Happy New Year YAVAs!
As with many a new year, I resolve to get things done quicker, better and more efficiently but alas, 2011 has not even begun and I’m already behind. My reflection is two days overdue and I’m still waiting for divine intervention. And maybe that’s what God is ultimately trying to say to me. To us.
Take Action! Love Purely. Pray for Others. Live Your Values. Forgive Freely. Accept Grace. Be Vulnerable. But most importantly – LIVE!
My prayer for all of us this year is to strive to reach God’s goals for us. To listen for them, to hear them, to answer them and then to reach for them no matter how seemingly unattainable or outrageous. If these things are done in love and for His kingdom we should put all we have into making them a reality – whether it’s raising great kids, starting a new career, going to Seminary or building a school in Thailand — all things are possible through Him.
As Scott and I started our journey to become YAVs, he wrote this song. It’s still so powerful to me. What would you do if you weren’t afraid? (insert Wav file here) As you read the next bit below, please listen to these words.
Take a moment today to remember your first days and weeks as a YAV – the fear, the trepidation, the anxieties. God was there. And now remember all the blessings that this special year gave to you, to us as a community – the love, the grace and the willingness to be vulnerable. God was there. So — Do not be afraid, for the Lord is with you!
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May His face shine upon you and give you peace today and throughout the new year!
